Meet A.yoni
A.yoni Jeffries is an Afro-Indigenous Creative Director, Musician, and Interdisciplinary Artist from Durham, NC. She is the leader of the five-piece “Genre allergic” Alt/Hip Hop/Soul band, Tribal Misfits, and the Tribal Misfits Dance Troupe. A.yoni is a classically trained vocalist, trained under Grammy nominated music educator, Danny Yancey, in the style of Jazz, and a lyricist. A.yoni's performances create an inviting musical experience open to music lovers globally.
A.yoni is a member of the Occaneechi Band of the Saponi Nation, a Native American tribe in North Carolina. She is the daughter of Kisha, a Native American Writer, and Howard, a Jamaican Musician and sculptor. When off stage, she serves as Founding Partner for Handèwa Farms, an Afro Indigenous and women-led Cannabis company - and - Creative Director of Awaruhi Inc., an Innovative Media Production House.
